Can I uninstall Vista SP1?
I like Vista fine, but some of my programs & peripherals do not yet support it. I need to use these programs now & can't wait for the manufacturers to catch up, so I need to install XP Pro. Not sure how to do this, as I have used this computer for a couple of weeks and have created many files I don't want to lose.

I have a strange situation on one of our computers where I have to uninstall Vista and reinstall XP (gasp!) I know how to do that on most machines but when I try to install XP on the SATA drive, it tells me there's no disk present. I don't know if Doug's script is meant to work on Vista, but it would appear not, since you were unable to solve the problem. Did you make sure to save the script and I couldn't do the System Restore on the Vista machine, because System Restore was mysteriously turned off and all of my restore points were gone.

If it supports Vista, it's likely you could pop in an XP CD and format and install XP but if I were you I'd format, install XP and then dual boot Vista. You haven't been specific about why you hate Vista, and I'd suggest if you were specific about what you hate we could fix that for you.
